The site lies at the bend on the A2 highway between the Corrany and Slieau Lewaigue in Maughold. The site accommodates a well-known property called the "Rest and be Thankful" probably so called as it formed a welcome refreshment stop or inn in days gone by for those travelling to and from Ramsey on foot or by horse. The property is a handsome building for which there have been several applications for different use including country club (refused), restaurant (approved and taken up but proved unsuccessful) and back to a dwelling (successful). A previous application was refused for the replacement of the windows which are rather unusual in that they have a Georgian pane on the top light and single vertical glazing bar on the lower light throughout the front elevation. The previous application, PA 93/0398 would have lost this pattern. Now proposed is the replacement of the existing windows with identical replacements, even painted white to match the existing. This is the correct approach to this fine and prominent building and should be encouraged. ## Summary of objections/views No views on file Recommendations Approve Signed.
