# Officer Planning Report Recommendation

Approval is sought to replace existing tuiler frame sliding sash welders at 23 Malew Street, Cashtetam, with white appr. casements. The building is located within the Cashtetam Conservation Area & within the vicinity of the Square. I would therefore request refusal of the proposal given that it would be contrary to the provisions of Placing Circular 1198 [Table omitted in markdown export] The proposed replacement widows by reason of their design & method of opening would detract from the character & appearance of the building which is located within the castration conservation area & be contrary to the provisions of Placing Circular 1/58. Replacement of the Attraction & Replacement of Widows. Note This decision is without prejudice to the submission of a further application which proposes sliding sash widows. The applicant is strongly advised to contact the Conservation Section of the Department who may be able to provide a non-means tested grant of up to 50% of the cost of suitably designed replacement widows or the refurbishment of the existing Fuller 22/5/03
