# Alfred Looney Occupancy Statement

1100838

## Statement

I make this statement in support of the Application for a Certificate of Lawful Use in respect of the property Ballajeroi, Kerrowgarrow, Greeba ("the Property") which I occupy with my wife Jean Doris Looney.

The Application is based upon the fact that the Property with its associated garden has been occupied by myself and my wife as a private residence rather than being occupied by a person engaged in agriculture for a period of 23 years, namely since the 11th January 1988.

At the time planning permission (I.D.O. 45440) was granted on the 25th November 1977 I was employed as a farmworker by the then owner of Kerrowgarrow Farm and the site of my Property was then part of that farm. In terms of this planning permission I built the Property and myself and my wife started living in it in late 1978 or early 1979. I continued to work as a farm worker at Kerrowgarrow Farm until 1987 when I was made redundant. I did make enquiries at the time of my redundancy seeking employment in agriculture but was unable to find a suitable vacancy. In January 1988 I was fortunate to find work with the Isle of Man Water Authority as a lorry driver (relief) with whom I remained employed until 26th November 2000 when I retired.

Attached hereto is a copy letter from the Isle of Man Water Authority confirming my employment with them from January 1988 until the 26th November 2000.

My wife has never been engaged in agriculture.

Kerrowgarrow Farm at the time I worked on it as a farmworker was a busy beef and dairy farm with the farmhouse occupied by its farmer Mr Keith Teare. The farmhouse was subsequently sold off and a number of the buildings on the farm redeveloped for residential use latterly (PA 10/01701/C). This converted barn is the neighbouring property to Ballajeroi and thus the Certificate of Lawful Use acknowledging the use of Ballajeroi as a private residential property is consistent with the use of this neighbouring property.

Kerrowgarrow Farm is now let out to a Mr Roger Chadwick a farmer from Cronk Breck Farm, Greeba who also uses the remaining farm buildings. The agricultural operation of Kerrowgarrow Farm would not be in any way affected by the use of the Property as a private residence.
