INSPECTOR'S REPORT

Ref: 02/HB100

Details of works which the Applicant is considering carrying out on the property and which *may* qualify for Grant Assistance:

1. Replacement of defective slate roof and associated lead flashings as necessary. The roof is to be recovered in natural slate to match existing, retaining as much of the original roof slates as possible.
2. Re-bed existing chimney pots, breakout and re-form capping and re-render chimney stacks with lime allowing for the insertion of all associated flashings at roof junctions.

As set out in the Schedule of Works already in your possession, certain Statutory approvals may be required to enable you to carry out the proposed works. Please refer to the said Schedule. However, to assist you I confirm that planning approvals will be necessary.

Re: Historic Buildings Conservation Scheme 2000 – 5 Charles Street, Peel.

I write with reference to your recent enquiry regarding grant assistance under the provisions of the above Scheme in respect of proposed works at the above premises and further to the recent visit by an Appointed Officer of the Department.

Please find enclosed the necessary formal application forms which must be completed and returned to this office together with estimates, plans, Registered Building/Planning and Building Regulation approvals, which are required to process your application. We also enclose a list of Approved Contractors for information, but please also see Section 2. (1)(a) (b) and (c) of the Scheme itself for further details of what constitutes an “approved contractor”.

Please note ALL questions must be answered legibly and all documentation provided, otherwise there may be delays in processing the application.

The attached Inspectors Report provides details of the works which you are considering carrying out to the property and which MAY be eligible for Grant Assistance. If you have any queries regarding your application please contact this office.

Dear Mrs. Has Hansbury Thank you for your enquiry regarding re front and rear of 5 Charles Street Reel. I estimate that the strip of the old stales and reslate with spanish type 20"x10" stales

Thermal cosy wrap under felt and fit new slate batens supply and fit new ridge tiles, provide and install new lead flashings as necessary. Supply all scaffolding and remove all rubbish from site.

The above work will cost the sum of $2880
(Two thousand eight hundred & eighty pounds)
