# Isle of Man Victorian Society Appeal Comments

To The Planning Appeals Office, Government Office, Douglas From The Isle of Man Victorian Society, c/o Marjon House , Alberta Drive, Onchan IM3 1LX

REF : Appeal CONHSOC/AP25/0001 Planning application 24/01173/CON

Demolition of single story flat roof element west side of the building, and erection of a new dwelling on land to west of existing building (in association with application 24/91152/GB), Groudle Glen House, King Edward Road, Onchan IM3 2JY

We did not make comment on this application because it proposes to demolish a 1950's addition to the original building thus reverting part of the building to an original elevation.

We are confused by the statement of the Registered Buildings Officer viz :

'Although the portion of the building in question is not itself protected under the registration (RB287) registered building consent is required as a result of those elements being physically to the registered building.'

When we looked at the Registered Building file it shows the whole building with a blue triangle in the middle. This indicates the whole building is Registered. There is no indication that any part of the building is excluded.

We have commented before that the original method of a red line around what was Registered was a better method of identification. We are content with the requirement of additional elevational drawings having to be submitted.

We note the removal of the toilets leaves the commercial part of the building inoperative and unsaleable at a reasonable price as it will then stand.
