## Subject: Planning Application for Community-Centric Clubhouse at Southern Nomads RUFC

Introduction: Our rugby club, Southern Nomads RUFC, is committed to enhancing our facilities not only for our rugby player and enthusiasts but also for the broader community. We propose the construction of a purpose-built clubhouse that will serve as a vibrant hub for social interaction, sports, and community events.

Project Phases:

- 1. Phase One: Rugby Pitches Establishment (Complete)

- o Our initial focus was on establishing high-quality rugby pitches. These pitches serve as the foundation for our sporting activities and community engagement.
- o This phase was completed a few years ago and has enabled rugby in the south of the island since, including annual events with over 500 children participating.

- 2. Phase Two: Interim Facilities and Car Parking (Complete)

- o During this phase, we set up interim changing rooms and toilet facilities. While functional, these facilities are not ideal for long-term use.
- o Additionally, we addressed car parking needs to accommodate players, spectators, and visitors.
- o The car parking has already been sized according to our eventual clubhouse requirements, so will not need any significant alterations.

- 3. Phase Three: Community-Centric Clubhouse (Covered by this application)

- o The final phase involves constructing a permanent clubhouse. This purposebuilt facility will be a welcoming space for all.
- o This phase is covered within this application and will be the culmination of a 40+ year journey for the rugby club.

Specific Facilities in the Clubhouse (Conforming to RFU Guidelines):

- 1. Changing Rooms:

- o Four dedicated changing rooms equipped with showers and storage space for players.
- o Separate changing rooms for home and visiting teams.
- o Designed according to the RFU Design Guide to Changing Rooms and Clubhouses standards.

- 2. Referees Facilities:

- o A comfortable area for referees to prepare and debrief.

- o Restrooms and refreshment facilities.
- o Compliant with the RFU guidelines for officials’ accommodation.

## 3. Toilet Facilities:

- o Men’s Toilets: Modern and accessible restrooms for male players, officials, and visitors.
- o Ladies’ Toilets: Equally well-appointed restrooms for female players, officials, and visitors.
- o Disabled Toilets: Thoughtfully designed facilities to ensure accessibility for all.

## 4. Communal Social Area:

- o Clubroom: A large open area for socialising before, during and after matches. Also, for a myriad of other purposes.
- o Kitchen: For the preparation of hot and cold food.
- o Bar: For the serving of hot and cold beverages and snacks.

## Additional Potential Benefits of the Clubhouse, could include:

- • Educational Workshops: Our clubhouse will host workshops on health, nutrition, and life skills.
- • Community Celebrations: From birthdays to local festivals, our space will be available for joyful celebrations.
- • Art and Culture: Art exhibitions, music performances, and storytelling sessions will enrich our community.
- • Environmental Awareness: Talks on sustainability, gardening, and eco-friendly practices.
- • Collaboration with Schools: Partnering with schools for educational field trips and after-school activities.

## Community Support:

- • Our local community has consistently supported our activities.
- • By creating a clubhouse that serves their needs, we hope to strengthen these bonds further.

We kindly request your consideration and approval for the construction of our communitycentric clubhouse. Your support will contribute to the growth of rugby and enhance the quality of life for all who visit Southern Nomads RUFC.
