#### Method Statement For Installation Of Overflows

Manx stone rubble wall, approximately 600- 650 thick, is faced on the external public elevations with Arran stone approx 25mm thick and rendered on both the rear face of the parapet and to the central courtyard.

Contractor to mark out the position of the proposed pipe on the external Arran stone face side and, slowly, at the centre point of the proposed hole make a 8-10mm pilot hole.

With a 51 mm diameter diamond-tipped core drill, slowly drill from the Arran stone face side taking care to remove the drill frequently to clear debris from the cutter.

Contractor to mark out the position of the proposed pipe on the rear of the parapet wall and at the centre point of the proposed hole make a 8-10mm pilot hole.

With a 76 mm diamond-tipped core drill, slowly drill from the rendered side taking care to remove the drill frequently to clear debris from the cutter.

Once holes have met, install pipe, rebuilding around pipe in smaller stones on internal face finishing with a flush lime render finish; around external Arran stone face side point up with lime mortar, colour sample to be agreed on site with Assistant Registered Building Officer.

NEW Polyroof Protec Waterproofings System. 18mm external grade Polyroof approved, 18mm Plywood or OSB3 (TG4) deck, to be confirmed in advance, and set at a 1:40 fall towards hoppers. Timber deck to be mechanically fixed to timber rafters with EJOT TKR Range. Fixings spaced at a minimum of 24no. per 2.4x1.2m Plywood board, or 20no. 2.4x0.6m OSB3 board and a minimum penetration of 40mm into timber structure below, as per Polyroof specification.Timber deck is to be primed with Polyroof SA Prime. Self-adhesive Polyroof SA Carrier Membrane is then to be applied to the primed deck. Polyroof Protec System to be applied over carrier membrane in 2 coats. All work to be carried out by approved installers to ensure guarentee.

EXISTING timber rafters, varying dimensions (approx. 110x75mm), to be inspected following removal of existing roof to ensure all retained timber work is in good condition and free from any signs of/dry rot.

NEW 38mm diameter uPCV pipe to act as overflow outlet. Length to be cut down to suit parapet thickness, with angled cut outside to form drip stop, to be suitable for use with Polyroof Protec roofing. Internal edge to have sealant/bond breaker bridging the transition between outlet pipe and parapet wall. Polyroof to be dressed into pipe.

NEW 50mm x 25mm treated sw timber battens, machine graded to BS5534. 1.2m in length, set out in straight lines with joints staggered on supports

NEW netting fixed between existing purlins and stapled in place to provide support to Thermafleece insulation

EXISTING timber purlin NEW Mansafe safety restraint system along inside of parapet wherever height of parapet is below 1100mm level of roof or gutter NEW 50mm Cosy Wool Thermafleece, or similar sheeps wool insulation, between 50x50mm treated sw timber counter battens, fixed to underside of existing rafters NEW 75mm Cosy Wool Thermafleece, or similar sheeps wool insulation, between rafters NEW 18mm external grade Polyroof approved, 18mm Plywood or OSB3 (TG4), to be confirmed in advance, and set at a 1:40 fall towards hoppers. Timber deck to be mechanically fixed to timber rafters with EJOT TKR Range. Fixings spaced at a minimum of 24no. per 2.4x1.2m Plywood board, or 20no. 2.4x0.6m OSB3 board and a minimum penetration of 40mm into timber structure below, as per Polyroof specification. NEW treated sw timber framing out to form parapet gutter, fixed through side of existing timber rafters. To be installed to a design fall of 1 in 40 to provide a finished fall of 1 in 80 in accordance with BS6229 NEW flat roof parapet abutment. Polyroof fillet between horizontal plywood and vertical parapet. Lead/ Ubiflex flashing overlapping minimum of 75mm and chased into existing parapet wall a minimum of 25mm and secured with mortar/ suitable proprietary gap filler NEW Marley Dome Grate Outlet 82mm AR82 with PCVu pipe connector. To be installed as per Marley specification. EXISTING principal timber truss (approx member size 230x200mm) EXISTING render to be made good following overflow pipe installation. NEW Proctor Roofshield or similar breathable membrane, draped over rafters, installed in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations NEW treated sw tilting fillet with double roman eaves clip + comb filler strip to protect airspace
