Good morning Daniel Our design team have already met with representatives from DoI to discuss the issues and plan for the permanent installation of the pedestrian crossing on Braddan Road. We have a further meeting planned for tomorrow after which we will issue the instruction for the design team to commence the work. It is imperative to us that a permanent crossing is put in place as soon as possible. Not only for pedestrian safety but also for financial reasons as the price for the hire of the temporary lights (or indeed purchasing temporary lights) is most definitely not cost effective and would be a permanent drain on resources. We cannot to afford to delay the permanent installation. In terms of timescale for the installation of the permanent lights, there are three determining factors. First would be the time taken for the design, which has been assessed at 6 weeks Second would be the construction time which has been estimated by the contractor to be 6 weeks (to allow for any contingencies or delays). The final factor is the lead in time for the purchase of the necessary equipment which we are advised to be 14 weeks. The cumulative total is therefore 26 weeks but it will be in our own interests to strive to reduce the timescale by trying to cross over these times. For instance, agreeing the equipment at an early stage and placing the order whilst the positioning of the lights is being determined by our design team. I hope this is off assistance and look forward to your reply.

Regards Colin
