# Supporting Statement

13 Belgravia Road, Onchan, IM3 1HN Alison Hadley Supporting statement relating to Certificate of Lawfulness application 16/3/24 My deceased husband had previously informed me of a conversation that he had had with a senior member of the Highways Dept (name unknown) circa 2018, through his work contacts. He was led to believe consent for a dropped kerb would be granted by Highways and he put in an application to Highways (copy attached). We did not realise at the time that a Planning Application was needed. There have been no direct challenges received with regard to using the dropped kerb. I am really very grateful to have the dropped kerb, meaning that I have been able to park at the house rather than having to park some distance from the house - this has been really important to me during extended periods of anxiety following my husband's death and it is a material factor in helping me feel safe at a very vulnerable time. As my strength returns, I am now keen to ensure that some outstanding matters relating to the refurbishment of our house carried out before my husband's death are resolved. In the letter from DEFA dated 27-08-19 (copy attached), it states that a harm assessment was undertaken, and it was determined that the level of planning breach was of a minor nature and would not appear to create harm to the public amenities and that this matter could be concluded by obtaining a certificate of lawfulness. It would provide me with tremendous peace of mind at this difficult time to have this matter resolved. I have been asked to provide proof that the works were undertaken at least 4 years ago. Evidence attached.
